Snow Fun in Ozaukee County

Ozaukee County has received a fare amount of snow so far this winter, but most of it has fallen at times that are not conducive to outdoor recreation. Sunday December 30 was an exception. The area got about 3 inches of light powdery snow and the temperature was about 30 degrees.

The Milwaukee River in Grafton has been in good condition for ice skating. A large area had been cleared of snow the day before and the day after December 30. That day, a few ambitious people used shovels to clear an area large enough to play hockey.

The new fallen snow in Cedar Creek park in Cedarburg provided the opportunity to try some cross-country skiing. The distance between the skiers was due to the inexperience of one of the people.

Sledding was great on the Spring Street hill in Cedarburg and Mule Hill in Mee Kwon park in Mequon. Sledding is really a loose term for what was taking place. Sleds were being used, but so were toboggans and other devices that propelled the riders down the hills at a good rate of speed. Once at the bottom of the hill, it was necessary to move quickly to get out of the way of the next group of sledders.
