Prison Rape Elimination Act/Sexual Assault

It is the ethical responsibility of the Ozaukee County Jail and its Staff to provide a safe and secure environment for all inmates.  The Ozaukee County Jail has a ZERO tolerance for incidences of sexual harassment, sexual abuse, or misconduct should it occur within its facility.  It is the duty of the Ozaukee County Jail Staff to provide a correctional environment free from threat of sexual misconduct for all inmates in custody by maintaining a program of prevention, detection, and response.

Any inmate in the Ozaukee County Jail who believes he or she has been sexually harassed or assaulted should report this violation immediately to any Jail Staff member.  The Jail Staff member will provide the inmate with further instructions.

Sexual harassment or sexual abuse of an inmate may also be reported by leaving a voicemail at 262-284-8304.  This can also be reported by writing a letter to:  Human Services, (Attention Heather Carlson), 121 West Main St., Port Washington, WI.  53074.  Reporting can be anonymous.

After a PREA incident of sexual harassment or sexual abuse has been received, an administrative and/or criminal investigation will be completed and handled in accordance with Wisconsin State Statutes.
